Every vehicle sold in the United States has a unique 17-character Vehicle Identification Number — a VIN. When you enter a VIN on VINFast, we query the official NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) database in real time and return everything they have on file: open recalls, owner-reported complaints, and full vehicle specs decoded directly from the VIN.

The whole process takes under 5 seconds, requires no account, and costs nothing. Ever.

VINFast runs on free government data. Here's what we can't tell you:

• ✗Accident history — held by Carfax / AutoCheck (paid)
• ✗Title history — salvage, rebuilt, flood titles are state DMV records
• ✗Odometer fraud — requires cross-referencing private data sources
• ✗Theft records — check NICB's free VINCheck at nicb.org
• ✗Service history — held by dealerships, not publicly available

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is a US federal agency within the Department of Transportation. All vehicle data on VINFast is sourced from vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov and api.nhtsa.gov. We display it as-is from the source — no editing, no spin.

VINFast is designed to work without collecting personal information. We do not collect, store, or process:

• Your name, email address, or contact information
• Account credentials (there are no accounts)
• Payment information (the service is free)
• VIN numbers you search — sent directly from your browser to NHTSA

Recent VIN searches are saved in your browser's localStorage — storage on your own device, not our servers. This powers the "Recent Searches" sidebar. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. Clear it anytime via your browser's site data settings.

NHTSA API: Your browser contacts NHTSA's servers directly when you look up a VIN. NHTSA will see your IP address. VINFast does not intercept this traffic.

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics for anonymous, aggregated traffic data. We cannot identify individual users. See Google's privacy policy.

Google AdSense: Ads are served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies for ad personalization. Opt out at google.com/settings/ads.

VINFast does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. No registration or personal data is required to use the service.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted. Continued use of VINFast after changes constitutes acceptance.

By using VINFast at vin-fast.netlify.app, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time.

VINFast provides free VIN lookup using NHTSA's public API, including VIN decoding, safety recall lookup, and owner complaint data. The service does not include accident history, title history, odometer verification, theft records, or service history.

The service is provided "as is" without any warranties. VINFast makes no warranty that:

• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• NHTSA data is complete, accurate, or up to date
• Results are suitable for any particular purpose
• All recalls or defects for a vehicle will be identified

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VINFast shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, any vehicle purchase decision made based on our results, or inaccurate data returned by NHTSA.

Always have a used vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic before purchase.

You agree not to use automated bots for bulk lookups, attempt to disrupt the service, or use VINFast for commercial data harvesting. Personal use is always welcome.
